Chief Human Resources Officer

  • Penney Rector Penney Rector is responsible for development and implementation of the components of the District's strategic plan which relate to human capital, including the recruitment, selection and retention of high quality talent to serve the District's students. Penney is responsible for policy development / implementation; discrimination claims/hearings; escalated investigations and discipline decisions; legal claims; escalated employee/labor relations; contract negotiations; grievance hearings; collective bargaining interpretations; health plan appeals; benefit plan changes and compliance management.

  • Allyson Peters

    Allyson Peters, Employment Coordinator (Certified- Early Childhood/Elementary) works closely with members of the Elementary leadership team to ensure that the district attracts and selects the highest level of talent possible. This includes: position posting/authorizations, applicant screening; eligible and qualified candidates; certified recruiting; HQT compliance; EE contracts; tenure; certification renewal and upgrade; personnel actions; employee compensation entries; onboarding.

    Chelsea Thompson, HR Analyst, provides support to human resource services for ensuring the technical accuracy of data related to employment; addresses a variety of issues and provides general support; and assists in ensuring that personnel functions conform to all applicable regulatory requirements.

  • Brittany McMurphy

    Brittany McMurphy is responsible for the provision of tier 1 human resource services to Springfield Public Schools employees and applicants for employment. Brittany is the primary point of contact in the resolution, escalation, or redirection of inquiries to the human resources department.

    Melissa King is responsible for the provision of tier 1 human resource services to Springfield Public Schools employees and applicants for employment. HR Services are the primary contacts in the resolution, escalation, or redirection of inquiries to the human resources department.

  • Dr. Liz Cooper

    Dr. Elizabeth “Liz” Cooper is responsible for directing the human resources team; assist the Chief Human Resources Officer to develop, track and support the District’s strategic plan- Focus Area 2, Goal Area 4; make recommendations to provide for continuous improvement to the Chief Human Resources Officer; direct all employment-related functions/employment life cycle (recruitment, selection, on-boarding and retention); district-wide compliance training design, delivery and tracking; and other duties as assigned.

Morris, Employment Coordinator (Classified), is responsible for the successful deployment of processes related to the non-certificated employment life cycle, and works closely with members of the leadership team to ensure that the district attracts and selects the highest level of talent possible. Ryan also coordinates HR processes related to the selection and recruitment of non-certificated staff.

    Debbie Rion, Employment Coordinator (Classified), is responsible for the successful deployment of processes related to the non-certificated employment life cycle, and works closely with members of the leadership team to ensure that the district attracts and selects the highest level of talent possible. Debbie also coordinates HR processes related to the selection and recruitment of non-certificated staff.

    Beth Kirkpatrick, HR Analyst, provides support to the delivery of human resource services with specific responsibility for ensuring the technical accuracy of data related to employment; address a variety of issues and/or provide general support; and assist in ensuring that personnel functions conform to all applicable regulatory requirements. Beth works with the classified employment coordinators.

     

Employee Relations

  • SALSMAN

    Amber Salsman conducts internal compliance and coordinates external regulatory investigations for the purpose of ensuring quality work environments which consistently support the District’s desire to be an employer of choice. Amber also provides internal support to other HR functions as they relate to compliance, and employee relations. 

     

Secretary

  • Thecia Thecia Dixon provides customer service to those who visit the Kraft Administrative Center and serves all facilities by managing the District’s main switchboard and directing incoming calls.

     

Assistant Director, Human Resources

  • SIMPSON Melanie Simpson, in conjunction with our Chief HR Officer, is responsible for substitute service vendor contracts and substitute management; benefits vendor contracts; SmartBen administrator; health benefits trust fund; health plan appeals; plan document compliance, vendor management; compensation surveys; and job description maintenance.

    Amanda Schudy

    Amanda Schudy, Benefits Coordinator, is responsible for maintaining the highest level of customer service regarding the health, dental, vision, life and long term disability plans for the District and also oversees the voluntary insurance products.  Amanda coordinates the open enrollment and benefits events as well as the District's fitness reimbursement program.

    Jeff Rogers, Wellness Coordinator, is responsible for the development and deployment of wellness initiatives designed to increase the holistic health and wellbeing of the District’s employees.  Jeff works closely with the HR Director and benefits department in order to add value to the District’s total compensation package and increase employee engagement and satisfaction.

    Heather Gardner provides customer service to District employees in issues related to family and medical leave, absence management, life and long-term disability insurances and will also provides information related to the health plan, dental and voluntary benefits coverages.
