    Fly SPS provides students instruction in aviation and the opportunity to earn their private pilot's license while earning high school and college credit. Students will spend half the school day at Springfield-Branson National Airport engaged in aviation classroom work, simulator use, and flight hours. Upon successful completion of the two-year program, students can continue their associate degree in aviation, earn a commercial pilot's license or pursue other careers in aviation. Potential aviation careers include commercial and airline pilots, co-pilots and flight engineers.

Program Information

Fly SPS is a new program starting in August 2023 that will provide students instruction in aviation and the opportunity to earn their private pilot's license while earning high school and college credit. Come Fly with SPS

Eligibility

    • Students from each SPS high school will be selected through a random lottery/interview process to participate in Fly SPS.

    • Students must be 16 years old by Aug. 1 at the start of their junior year in high school and meet all FAA screening requirements. 

Important Dates

    • Application window opens Nov. 1.
    • Application window closes Dec. 1.
