International Baccalaureate
-
The International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme offers a comprehensive education continuum made up of four programmes, all connected by the IB’s shared philosophy and approaches to teaching and learning. IB provides a rigorous, globally recognized education through its Primary Years Programme (K-5), Middle Years Programme (6-10), and Diploma/Certificate Programmes (11-12).
Focused on critical thinking, creativity, and global awareness, the IB encourages students to engage with real-world issues and explore subjects in-depth. Through inquiry-based learning, interdisciplinary projects, and an emphasis on international mindedness, IB students are prepared to succeed in higher education and make meaningful contributions to their communities.

PreK-Grade 5
Primary Years Programme (PYP): The PYP is a student-centered approach to education and promotes inquiry-based learning, a transdisciplinary education which bridges student learning across disciplines, and real-world experiences which give students the agency to explore how they can positively impact their community.
Grade 6-10
Middle Years Programme (MYP): The MYP provides a strong academic foundation, helping students build confidence in managing their own learning. It encourages them to make meaningful connections between classroom concepts and real-world applications, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
By engaging in diverse subjects, students develop a deeper understanding of how their education can be applied beyond school, preparing them for future academic and life challenges.
The MYP consists of eight subject groups: language acquisition, language and literature, individuals and societies, sciences, mathematics, arts, physical and health education, and design.
MYP students also engage in the MYP core, which includes Approaches to Learning, Community Engagement, and the Personal Project.
Grade 11-12
The Diploma Programme (DP): The DP fosters independent thinking and critical analysis, preparing students for success in higher education. It offers opportunities for scholarships, college credit, and post-secondary advancement, while encouraging students to engage in community service and contribute meaningfully to society.
DP students select one course from each of six subject groups: literature, language acquisition, individuals & societies, sciences, mathematics, and the arts. They also complete the DP core, which includes Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay, and Creativity, Activity, and Service (CAS).
Career-related Programme (CP): The CP equips students with future-ready skills and prepares them to follow their career pathways—combining academic subjects with their own professional interests.
The Career-related Programme at SPS works through the following career-clusters: 1) Human Services, 2) Business, 3) Art, Audio Visual, and Communication, 4) Hospitality and Tourism, 5) Architecture, Engineering and Construction, and 6) Health Science.
CP students complete at least two DP courses in any DP subject group as well as a career-related study for the two years of their program. They also complete the CP core, which includes Personal and Professional Skills, Community Engagement, Language Development, and the Reflective Project.
