Jarrett - Progress as Promised

  • In April 2019, Springfield voters approved Proposition S which enables Springfield Public Schools to make facility improvements to a number of schools, including building a new Jarrett Middle School. SPS will invest $41.54 million to build the new facility on the current Portland property. Minor boundary adjustments will be made after construction. Improvements will include:

    • Address accessibility and security challenges
    • Safe room gymnasium
    • Expanded space for outside extra-curricular programming
    • Serve up to 725 students in grades 6-8

        • Additional lead based paint and evening work to avoid disruptions
        • Add second master station

        • Design and bid specs for audio/video/theatrical lighting, drape and control systems.

    The Board of Education approved the asbestos abatement on Portland facility to make way for new construction of Jarrett.

    During its study session, the Board of Education approved the following:


    Terracon to provide geotechnical engineering services

    Sept. 17, 2019

    During its regular meeting, the Board of Education selected Terracon to provide geotechnical engineering services for the new Jarrett Middle School for a fee of $10,450.

    Additionally, the Board approved multiple change orders for secure entrance projects.
