Adah Fulbright Early Childhood Center - Progress as Promised

In April 2019, Springfield voters approved Proposition S which enables Springfield Public Schools to make facility improvements to a number of schools, including building a new early childhood center. SPS will invest $12.69 million to build this new center on the Carver campus. On Jan. 21, 2020, the Board of Education approved naming the facility the Adah Fulbright Early Childhood Center. New construction will:
- Provide a safe room.
- Capitalize on state funding for operation costs for free/reduced lunch qualified preschool students.
- Serve up to 250 preschool students.

A group of community leaders, educators and citizens helped break ground on the new Southwest Region Early Childhood Center on Monday, Aug. 5. A special groundbreaking ceremony commemorated the occasion.

Construction contract awarded for new early childhood center
July 24, 2019
During a special meeting, the Board of Education awarded a contract to Dewitt & Associates in the amount of $9.3 million for construction of the new southwest early childhood center, which will be located near Carver Middle School. Construction is expected to begin in August. The center is scheduled to open in August 2020 and will serve up to 250 preschool students.
