  • Into the Wild Girl Scout

    Partnership with Dickerson Park Zoo

    Grades 2-3

    Come explore where the wild things are! Put on your safari hat as we travel to observe animals in their habitats. Students will become zookeepers as they learn to care for animals in their habitat at Dickerson Park Zoo. This course will include weekly zoo field trips.

    Students will use the garden as a laboratory where they can observe plants and insects as well as learning how to plant seedlings and care for the garden. Learning experiences will encourage critical thinking skills while building mathematical, and communication arts skills.

    Boom! Crack! Summer thunderstorms can be exiting and fun, but where does all that water go afterward? Travel with a raindrop to discover how nature and our drinking water are related. Explore streams, hiking trails, fishing and the water cycle with weekly field trips to The Watershed Center.

    Welcome into Hogwarts University! Study the science behind solutions, explore the magic of living plants, creatures, and astronomy. This art-integrated course will involve research, field trips, and STEAM activities.

    Students will explore how photography can be used to express themselves. Course will include field trip experiences to provide photography and writing inspiration. Students will write and illustrate their own book. Integration of online and once a week seated class time learning.

Do you have what it takes to survive, thrive and make it back to civilization? Test your skills during this four-week challenge with experiences at local conservation areas in our region.
