LEAD Academy is a free preschool program offered at multiple elementary sites and early childhood centers in the Springfield Public Schools district. LEAD students attend classes alongside pre-school peers with developmental delays. Students attend LEAD classes three hours a day, Monday through Thursday in either a morning or afternoon session.

Eligibility for LEAD Academy
This program is available to children living in the Springfield Public Schools attendance area who will be at least three years-old before August 1. Prospective students must have a recent developmental screening from Parents As Teachers with a score in the 40th percentile or higher as well as a recommendation from a parent educator/screener.

Enrollment Process for LEAD Academy
- Complete the Early Childhood Interest Form.
- Call (417) 523-1333 to schedule a preschool screening or submit a screening appointment request and someone will be in touch with you. Bring your child's immunization record, birth certificate, and proof of residency with you to the screening appointment. You will also complete registration paperwork during the screening appointment.
- Complete the Online Enrollment Form
If your child qualifies for placement, you will receive an email with further instructions. You will also be notified if they do not qualify.
- Complete the Early Childhood Interest Form.
