I am thrilled to announce that Springfield Public Schools is joining with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to fight blood cancers. We have designated March 21-April 15 for our district campaign. Every dollar raised will support research to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma while helping to improve the quality of life for patients and their families.
Participation is simple. Numerous schools have joined the effort, so you can give online through the school of your choice or select the district’s online giving page. Every contribution helps.
In May, LLS will host a community event called Light The Night, which is an inspirational evening walk to celebrate, honor, and remember those touched by cancer while raising funds to support LLS’s mission. I would love for our district to be able to showcase our commitment to our students and the community around us during this event.
I support the mission of LLS because their program aligns with our commitment to educating students that community service is part of a well-rounded education. When we choose to participate in this opportunity to benefit LLS, our students can experience first-hand the power of making a difference in the lives of others.
I hope that you will join me in bringing light to the darkness of cancer by making a donation today to help help cure cancer.
Sincerely,
Dr. Grenita Lathan
Superintendent
