Learning Resources for Parents and Staff

  • Resources are available for SPS staff in our google folder.  You must be logged into your SPS google account to access these files.  Check back often,  you never know what you may find.  We are constantly adding new ideas, strategies and resources.

     

    WIDA maintains our yearly language proficiency assessment and is currently developing an instructional framework for ELD standards.  Resources can mostly be found in the download library.  

    DESE's ELL page can be found by searching for MELL.  

    The Teaching Channel has a good selection of EL instructional videos.  Their ELL Deep Dive can be found here.

    Colorin Colorado is a terrific site for parents and educators. It is a sister site of reading rockets.

    News in Levels provides current event articles in three different levels of English proficiency. 

    Tinycards is a decent on-line collection of flashcards.  You can also build your own decks.

    NYU/Steinhardt has created a very robust collection of instructional materials and glossaries in MANY languages.

    This is an amazing collection of on-line resources curated by Larry Ferlazzo.  There are tons of "best of" lists.  A few links may be old.

    Larry Ferlazzo teaches secondary ELs.  Here are his lessons, differentiated by proficiency level.

    ESOL Odyssey is an active site from a great EL educator.

    Empowering ELLs is another rockstar blog.  Check out the bathroom briefs.

     Valentina Gonzalez also has a great ELL website.

    Pat Mora writes multicultural books.  Her website is filled with lesson ideas and ways to use her books in your class.

    Elgin ISD in Texas has an excellent collection of resources.
