Step #1
-
Complete a volunteer application. You may go ahead and complete the next steps or confirm that you have.
- SPS volunteers must complete a volunteer application every school year beginning in July.
Step #3
-
Complete fingerprinting.
- Your registration will show payment details and state you need to bring payment or a code. Volunteers with Springfield Public Schools are on an invoicing system with Identogo (the fingerprinting company).
- If you are asked for payment or a code by an agent, please let them know you are a volunteer with Springfield Public Schools.
Step #4
-
Register with the Family Care Safety Registry. If you are already registered with the FCSR, you do not need to register again. However, if you registered a while ago, please call them at 866-422-6872 to update any new information. We are able to review the information from a previous registration to determine your volunteer approval.
If you are not currently registered, register online or with a mail-in form.
- Online Registration with the FCSR is quick and easy. You will need Internet access, your Social Security number and email address, and a valid credit or debit card for payment of the fee. The fee to register online is $15 plus a $.55 processing fee.
- By mail -- mail the Worker Registration Form, a photocopy of your Social Security card, and a check or money order for the $15 registration fee (if applicable) to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, Fee Receipts Unit, P.O. Box 570, Jefferson City, MO, 65102. Mailed forms are processed in the order received.
Family Care Safety Registration does not expire and is good for life. Once your registry information has been reviewed, you will receive a final email indicating your approval status.
You Must Opt In Each Year
-
Please note: Recent changes to the FBI’s CJIS Security Policy, which directly affect the fingerprinting portion (MACHS) of the volunteer approval process, require you to take action each year by June 15. Subscriptions to fingerprint results must be removed within five business days after a volunteer is no longer providing services with Springfield Public Schools (SPS).
To remain in the SPS fingerprint Rap Back system, you must opt in with a YES response if you plan to continue to volunteer with SPS. This response must be received by June 15 each year, in order for your fingerprints to remain available for review.
If we do not receive a YES response by the deadline, you will be removed from the MACHS system and SPS will no longer be allowed to view your fingerprints. If you are removed on June 15 and then decide to return as a volunteer in the future, the fee to renew your fingerprints will be your responsibility. Once a volunteer has been removed from the system, SPS will not cover the approximate $46 fee to re-fingerprint.
SPS will continue to pay for fingerprinting costs for volunteers who opt in by the June 15 deadline and new volunteers who need fingerprinting completed for the initial approval.
We value our volunteers, and we want the process to be seamless with this security requirement. Please let us know by June 15 your plans for the upcoming school year when you receive an email requesting an OPT-IN response.
If you have questions, please email volunteer@spsmail.org.
