Dr. Grenita Lathan distributes Scholastic book bundles to students in grades K-5

Free Scholastic books for SPS students, K-5. That's Dr. Grenita Lathan's Summer Reading Challenge. 

 

"Summer reading is critical to supporting our students' learning all year long," said Dr. Lathan. "That's why we're sending home books with our students to enjoy and read over the summer, so that every child has grade-appropriate learning materials for them at home."

 

During Explore, there will also be a special emphasis on reading each day. Students who attend Jump Start Kindergarten will receive a “Reading Readiness” summer book pack, and all other students who participate in Explore and demonstrate great attendance and kindness will have a chance to meet Clifford the Big Red Dog. 

 

And a special bonus: Those who are still attending Explore July 10-11 and who have 80 percent or better attendance will receive more free books.
