Current fifth and eighth-graders can apply for a transitional transfer for the 2022-2023 school year.

Each year, SPS eligible fifth-graders and eighth-graders who do not wish to attend the middle school or high school determined by their home address, have the opportunity to request a transitional transfer to the middle school or high school of their choice for the next school year.

For the 2022-2023 school year, transitional transfer requests may be submitted between 7:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 3, and 4:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10. Requests are granted on a first come, first served basis determined by an electronic time/date stamp.

In order for a request to be approved, there must be space available at the requested school. Due to current and projected high enrollment, Cherokee Middle School will be closed to all transfers for sixth-graders, for the 2022-2023 school year. Cherokee enrollment will be monitored to determine when it might be reopened for transitional transfers in the future.

If your student is interested in this option for the 2022-2023 school year, you must submit your request online beginning Nov. 3 You will be notified no later than Dec. 10 of the status of your transfer request. If you request is approved, you must accept or decline the transfer by 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 22.
