Mission

  •  To provide the district's students, faculty and staff with a safe and secure learning environment.

Who We Are

  • Emblem Springfield Public Schools employs 31 state licensed school police officers who are commissioned by the R-12 Board of Education . These officers are interactive daily in the schools across the district. School Police Officers are also trained in the School Resource Officer (SRO) program. Goals of the SRO program include bridging the gap between the officers and students, increasing positive attitudes toward law enforcement, as well as taking a proactive effort to reduce crime. The officers strive to build a rapport between officers, students, and staff to work toward providing a safer learning environment.

Communication Clerks The heartbeat of any law enforcement agency is its Communication Department.  SSPD remains efficient and effective with the assistance of its 8 communication operators that work 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.  Whether it's answering incoming calls, monitoring alarms and security cameras, providing officers with live up-to-date information, or communicating with other agencies; our communication staff play a vital role.
