SPS participates in 58th annual Drury University Jazz Festival

SPS student musicians participated in the 58th annual Drury Jazz Festival held on March 1, 2025. The festival is a competitive event that allows students and directors to perform for and receive comments from some of the best jazz musicians and educators in the country.

Bands were scheduled for a 30-minute performance slot and, after each performance, a clinic was held by the adjudication panel.  

First, second and third places were awarded in each of the competitive classes and an outstanding solo award was given in all classes. Players in all classes were eligible for Outstanding Musicianship Certificates.

Cherokee Middle School received 1st place in their age group. 

Parkview

Parkview Lab Band earned 4th place in the 2nd Band category. 

Taylor Christopher, Alto Saxophone, was awarded Top Soloist in the 2nd Band Category

Outstanding Soloist Awards:

Navaeh Roberson, Vocalist; Henry Pavon, Tenor Saxophone; Taylor Christopher, Alto Saxophone

Parkview Jazz Band received 3rd Place in the 5A Category

Outstanding Soloist Awards:

Eli Holt, Bass; Tyler Brantley, Alto Saxophone; Addie Meadows, Vocalist
