Launch, a virtual learning platform based at Springfield Public Schools (SPS), is excited to announce the chartering of its Future Farmers of America (FFA) Chapter, the first virtual FFA Chapter in the state of Missouri.

"Over the last few years, Launch has developed several virtual Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs), including FFA, in conjunction with the creation of our Launch Missouri’s Workforce courses,” says Launch Director Dr. Nichole Lemmon. “We’re proud that we are able to give students statewide these opportunities virtually. This chapter in particular is a reflection of our commitment to leveraging technology to expand access to agricultural education.”

Launch’s virtual FFA chapter was created in 2023 with a main goal of giving students the opportunity to connect with peers and mentors from around the state, pursue their passion in agriculture, and build valuable skills that will serve them well in any future career. The chapter features a range of both virtual and in-person programs and initiatives designed to foster leadership, personal growth, and career success in agriculture.

Several notable speakers shared remarks at the chartering ceremony, which was also broadcast and viewed statewide.

“We’re proud of the work we’ve done to establish this chapter, and we believe it's worthy of celebration,” Dr. Lemmon says. “Students statewide now have the ability to participate in the national FFA program, engage in leadership development, and gain essential skills for a future career in agriculture--even if they aren’t able to attend school in person.”

Superintendent Grenita Lathan shared remarks and congratulations that were shared at the celebration.
