Central High School's All-State Choir Honorees: Caleena Tomakane, alternate Bracken Potter
The All-State Choir is the highest honor for any high school vocal student in the state of Missouri.
Each fall, thousands of students from every high school in the state audition in their own region for a place in their district (regional) choir. Exceptional students in their region are invited to audition to be an All-State vocalist. Being chosen as an All-State Vocalist means being recognized as one of the best of their craft in the state.
Parkview High School vocal music educator Kevin Grice is very excited for his students, he says. "This is a life-changing event for a choral student. It was life changing for me; it is why I majored in music and became a choral director."
Dr. Nathan Cornelius, Kickapoo High School director of vocal music, is proud that his students were selected for the statewide honor.
"These students will get to experience music at its highest level," said Dr. Cornelius. "Every state has an All-State choir, but Missouri is often considered the best. We would love to invite our building and district leaders to join us at the performance this winter and witness the greatness of these students."
Central High School's choir teacher, Eric Eichenberger, knows the many doors this statewide honor opens for his exceptionally talented singing students.
"The All-State honor opens up many scholarship opportunities for them to continue their education, in any field, at the college and university level," said Eichenberger. "I am so proud of them."
