“Being a model classroom teacher allows me to connect with other teachers who teach the same subject as me, and it allows us to have conversations over the standards and curriculum implementation with the purpose of helping our students learn and find success. It supports teachers who can then add to their own toolbox to help students find success as well.
This approach gives teachers hands-on experience with the curriculum, not just reading it, but seeing and doing it and seeing someone else's interpretation. It also allows for collaboration with other teachers across the district that teach similar content. Building connections with other teachers who teach the same thing is essential! It gives you someone else to talk with if there’s a concept your students are struggling with or a piece of the curriculum you struggle to implement.
I pursued this opportunity because observing other teachers’ classrooms is one of the ways I have learned the most! I love seeing what other teachers are doing. I have never observed another teacher's class and not come back with an idea to utilize in my own classroom. I want other teachers to get the opportunity to learn from my experience and that’s what the model classroom does.”
