Like mother, like daughter.

Heather Edwards is an educator at Phelps, Scholars and Sunshine Elementary, and she has just started her 26th school year in education.

But more than an educator, she's also a mom -- of quadruplets (!).

This year, her daughter, Madison, began her career as a teacher at Sunshine Elementary. It's also where Heather serves as an instructional coach.

"Madison is a strong young lady, who thrives on structure and leads with a giant heart and a love for kids," said Heather. "I really emphasized to her that SPS is an amazing place to work, we are rich in resources ranging from curriculum, hands-on learning and especially leaders and colleagues that are experts in their specific area who want to help you succeed."

Madison just completed her second week as a fifth-grade teacher, and she's one of dozens of new teachers who joined #TeamSPS this school year.

"I chose SPS because I saw the opportunity to grow as an educator and make a difference in the community," said Madison. "The support SPS provides to their new and first-year teachers is unlike another district, and I knew that going into my first-year teaching that support would be critical to my success in making sure my students grow and succeed."

At Sunshine, Madison's got so many cheerleaders as a first year teacher. But she also has one who's been cheering her on, her entire life.

"Madison is the only one of my four who went into education," said Heather. "Made my mama's heart proud."
