5 schools receive Project Lead the Way Distinguished School Honor
June 10, 2024
During the 23-24 school year, five schools received national recognition as Project Lead the Way Distinguished Schools:
- Pershing Middle School
- Central High School
- Glendale High School
- Hillcrest High School
- Kickapoo High School
This honor is given to a select number of middle and high schools across the U.S. for providing broad access to transformative learning experiences for students through three PLTW pathways: Computer Science, Engineering and Biomedical Science.
At SPS, students in grades 6-12 have access to 19 hands-on, experiential PLTW classes, including: Computer Science Essentials, Civil Engineering and Architecture, Human Body Systems, Medical Detectives and so much more.
“Project Lead the Way curriculum empowers students to explore potential careers, while gaining real-world skills,” said Dr. Katie Kensinger, director of college and career readiness. “For five of our schools and their teachers to be recognized for outstanding implementation of rigorous STEM curriculum is exciting, and we’re thrilled to continue increasing the number of PLTW courses offered to middle and high school students at SPS.”
