Central and Kickapoo High School students participated in the Missouri Bar’s Show Me the Constitution academic competition.

Central High School’s Civics and Constitution Club earned 2nd place and a prize of $750 for civic education. CHS has been participating in this competition since 2015.

“These students present/defend their understanding of pressing constitutional questions in front of a panel of the state’s top lawyers and judges -- including a sitting and retired member of the state Supreme Court,” said teacher and club sponsor Joel Slingerland. “They must defend their positions in a face-to-face Q & A of legal professionals and scholars. High pressure. High Stakes. These students delivered, and I couldn’t be more proud.”
