Springfield Public Schools student journalists participated in competitions at the Journalism Education Association's Spring National Convention in Kansas City.

At JEA, there were approximately 4,000 attendees, with only 824 students competing. For the competition, students either prepared their photo or design entries based on a prompt and submitted them online a month in advance, received a packet of information on which to base their yearbook project on site, or students attended presentations, panel interviews and more and wrote a piece on the information provided.
