Safety update for Glendale families

Nov. 16, 2023

Today, Glendale High School administrators received a tip that a student was in possession of a weapon at school. School police and administrators responded immediately to the tip, removed the student in question from the classroom, and secured a small handgun at approximately 2:30 p.m. today.

The weapon was loaded, however the student was cooperative and everyone is safe.

The student is in police custody and will be processed by law enforcement. In addition, appropriate disciplinary procedures will be followed.

This is an important reminder that we all—students, staff and parents—share a responsibility for school safety and to report when we observe anything suspicious or out of the ordinary. We commend the individual who provided the tip which led to a swift resolution.

Please take time to remind your child that if they are aware of any safety issue, they should report it directly to the principal, another staff member, or they may call School Police at (417) 523-2911 or text our anonymous Tip Line at (417) 319-2901.
