It’s not too late for pre-K learners to grow, play and learn in early childhood at SPS this year.

Spots remain in limited locations across Springfield Public Schools in Wonder Years, a free preschool program for children 4 to 5 years old. The full-day program shares a similar calendar to SPS, and before- and after-school care is available at several early childhood centers.

“Wonder Years is a free Pre-K program emphasizing language, literacy, and math, as well as helping students develop positive social interactions with adults and peers,” said Tammy Flowers, assistant director of early childhood. “These skills will be helpful as students enter kindergarten.”

Wonder Years is a no-cost program that gives children the opportunity to learn and grow in a setting similar to a kindergarten classroom. This unique, immersive environment sets academic and social expectations which will follow them to elementary school.

Parents of preschoolers may enroll eligible children in Wonder Years at any time.
