Hillcrest High School's "HTV Magazine" won three first-place 2023 Student Production Awards from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Mid-America Foundation.
Newscast, First Place: "HTV Magazine"
Short Non-Fiction, First Place: Caylee Jasper, Caylee Davis and Shelby Epperly for their story, "He Was There," about a 102-year-old WWII veteran and his wife, who live here in Springfield.
Public Affairs/Community Service, First Place: Lauren Jackson and Holten Pyle for their story, "Day of Unity," covering the Martin Luther King Day march in Springfield.
Honorable Mentions:
"The Lockdown" by Haylyn Baker and Bradlee Moore, about how a 911 hoax led to a harrowing lockdown at Hillcrest.
"In Their Honor" by Molly Blair and Addison Grant, about the Veterans Day activities at HHS.
Students will receive their pillars from the National Television Academy of Arts and Sciences Mid-America Chapter at the annual Emmy Gala in Branson, MO on Sept. 30.
"I could not be prouder of our HTV Magazine staff," said Dave Davis, broadcast journalism teacher at Hillcrest. "It's nice to see their hard work recognized by the same industry leaders who hand out Emmys."
