KHS Chamber Choir chosen for special performance
Jan. 24. 2023
The Kickapoo High School Chamber Choir has been selected to perform Jan. 26 at the Missouri Music Educators Association Conference at Lake of the Ozarks. This is one of the top honors a music ensemble in Missouri can earn and the process is very competitive. The KHS Chamber Choir is directed by Nathan Cornelius.
An out-of-state committee of music educators is assembled to review recordings of the groups being considered. Each committee member completes an evaluation form to provide directors and students with feedback and to assist in the selection process. Based on this review, the committee makes recommendations to the MMEA president and the MMEA executive director.
“Ensembles that are chosen represent the highest level of excellence for musical performance,” explained Breana Kavanaugh, SPS fine arts coordinator. “This is a huge honor for the KHS Chamber Choir and is the equivalent of an athletic team winning a state championship.”
