SPS DECA winners honored at Governor's Excellence in Marketing Reception

Springfield Public Schools students were invited to a special celebration at Governor Parson's Mansion on May 17. The guests of honor? SPS students.

Missouri DECA competitors who are finalists or better at the International Career Development Conference. The international contest is the most competitive contest for DECA members, who study business, leadership and marketing in their DECA high school classrooms.

Students from Central and Glendale high schools were celebrated at the event as Missouri honorees.

"At this reception, four SPS were recognized for their accomplishments at ICDC and were presented with a proclamation from their state representative," said Kevin Buening, DECA advisor and marketing/business teacher at Central High School. "I'm incredibly proud of my students for not only being invited, but for being recognized for such a high level of excellence."
