Glendale Student Art Selected in Competition

Drury University held the 6th Annual Best of the Midwest High School competition in October of 2021. The Best of the Midwest High School Competitive Exhibition is open to all currently enrolled high school students in Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Students may be in public, private or home school educational environments and currently sophomores, juniors or seniors. 

Artwork by Glendale students Elaiza Bonilla-Benavidez, Sierra Hendrix, Marcus Hesseman, and Sierra Tapia was selected to exhibit at the annual competition.

Drury University professors selected Sierra Hendrix for 1st place and Elaiza Bonilla-Benavidez as the Best of Show. Elaiza will receive a $2,000 grant which is renewable every year if she chooses to attend Drury. 

“This is an awesome accomplishment for our students at Glendale,” said Glendale Art Department Chair Rob Ramos. 

The winning art was displayed in November at the Drury University studio.
