Deputy Superintendent Carol Embree named Business Official of the Year
Carol Embree, SFO, RSBA, is the 2021 Business Official of the Year. The Missouri Association of School Business Officials (MoASBO) named Embree with the top statewide honor. Embree is the deputy superintendent of Operations for Springfield School District. She is completing her 29th year as a school business official.
Embree is a Certified School Finance and Operations Official through the Association of School Business Officials International. As the deputy superintendent of Operations, she oversees the finances of the district for the $320 million operating budget, and has responsibility for construction management, facilities and grounds, transportation, nutrition services, purchasing and distribution, and business operations, including payroll and accounts payable.
According to Kelly Genge, MoASBO recognition committee chair, MoASBO strives to recognize those who are dedicated to serving their district and colleagues.
"Carol Embree has been an active member of MoASBO since 1995. She has served on the association's board of directors and on the Spring Conference Committee and the Audit Committee," said Genge.
“I am honored to receive this recognition,” Carol Embree said. “Through the MoASBO organization I have connected with leaders throughout the state, have grown through professional learning, and have formed friendships for a lifetime. For all these things, I am grateful.”
Embree previously served in the business office where she held similar positions in Clinton, Blue Springs and Liberty. Embree is retiring at the end of the 2020-2021 school year.
