Only 1 Snow Day remains available for 2020-2021
February 19, 2021
Six snow days were built in to the calendar for the current school year. If all six snow days are used, the last day of school will be May 28. Counting today, SPS has now used five snow days. Moving forward, the district will implement the following plan to ensure the school year does not extend beyond May 28.
- One more snow day is available for use during the current school year. That snow day will be used, if needed.
- After use of the sixth snow day, SPS will implement districtwide virtual learning as an Alternative Method of Instruction (AMI). An AMI day will replace a traditional snow day.
- Details about the AMI learning schedule will be provided to staff and families if and when this step is necessary.
- The last day of school for the 2020-2021 school year will be confirmed after Spring Break, once the full impact of the winter season is evident.
Thank you for your understanding and flexibility as we adapt our learning model to accommodate continued inclement weather.
