Meet Robert Woody, Outdoor U teacher for Explore and physical education teacher at Jarrett Middle School
Q: “How do you make learning fun during the summer for your middle schoolers?”
A: “It’s the experience they receive by taking the class that makes learning fun. The partnerships with the Missouri Department of Conservation, the Springfield-Greene County Park Board and Missouri State University allow students to learn about nature by doing activities, like fishing, kayaking and archery. By being outside, they learn about everything Missouri has to offer. I love the looks on students’ faces when they catch their first fish or hit their first bull’s-eye with a bow and arrow. It’s priceless. I just share my experiences and love and appreciation for the outdoors, while showing students what a great resource we have available for us and future generations.”
