School year begins at Springfield Public Schools

On Tuesday, Aug. 13, more than 25,000 students began the 2019-2020 school year in Springfield. The day, full of learning and fun, was supported by nearly 4,000 employees who are dedicated to serving students.

"While students' lives outside of school may differ, within our walls, we are committed to providing them a common experience of being welcomed by an amazing team of professionals who want to connect with them in a real and personable way," said Superintendent John Jungmann in a message to staff Tuesday morning. "Every student needs to know we believe in their potential. Your dedication to their success makes that happen and it is humbling to see in action."
