Faces of SPS: Meet Jim Farrell, director of school police

Jim Farrell

Meet Jim Farrell, director of school police.

Q: “How are students safer with more secure entrances at school?”

A: “One of the very first steps in providing a safe environment at school or even at home is considering how secure the entrance is. Secure entrances on our schools are invaluable and provide staff and students extra layers of safety. These layers include processes and physical layers. These extra steps and layers may cause many people to feel inconvenienced, but students and staff benefit from them every day. Adding protections are worth every penny spent when it increases the physical safety of our building, providing a safer environment for our students and staff.”
