Everyday, before coming to school, we ask parents/guardians to check and ask their child if they have any of the following symptoms and/or exposure.
What are the symptoms of concern?
Fever (100.4 degrees) or chills
Shortness of breath
Lack of appetite
Muscle or body aches
Red itchy, watery eyes
New loss of taste or smell
Sore throat/swollen glands
Congestion or runny nose
Nausea or vomiting
Students who have had any of the above symptoms in the past 24 hours to stay home from school and/or until symptoms resolve without medication to relieve symptom(s).
Students who have taken any fever-reducing medications such as Tylenol or Ibuprofen in the past 24 hours to stay home until they are fever-free without the use of medication for 24 hours.
Students who have recently had close contact with a person with COVID-19 to monitor their health for 7-10 days after exposure.
If you test positive for COVID-19
It is recommended that anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 isolate at home and away from others for at least FIVE DAYS after testing positive. Isolation can end once symptoms have resolved, which may take longer than five-day minimum. Once isolation has ended, it is recommended that a mask be worn around others for at least five days.
Springfield Public Schools does not have any testing sites or testing kits at this time.
