Springfield Scholars Program

The Springfield Scholars Program is a full-time educational service for highly gifted students in grades six through eight. This accelerated academic experience provides students with the opportunity to pursue areas of strength in a high school setting. Students enrolled in Scholars are taught by certified gifted faculty, as well as high school faculty, for high school credit. The Springfield Scholars Program is part of the services provided by the Springfield Public Schools Gifted Education Program. Students who are eligible to receive gifted services and reside within the Springfield R-12 District may apply to the Scholars program. All Scholars families should meet for orientation in the CHS Auditorium by 5:30 pm on Wednesday, August 14. Please enter the building through entrance # 1 on the circle drive. At this time, Scholars students will receive a packet of important information including locker assignments. Directly after the meeting, sixth grade Scholars will report to their first block class. Scholars in grades seven and eight should locate their classrooms and lockers. All additional Scholars information may be found on the Phelps Center for Gifted Education website: www.sps.org/phelps
