Truman Elementary School, located at the very tip of northern Springfield, was established in 1992. But because of the care of the staff, students, and the community, our building and the energy found inside still feels brand new! We know our students and families by name, and are proud of our rich tradition of academic excellence.

- 33rd President of the United States
- Born May 8, 1884, in Lamar, Missouri
- Died December 26, 1972 in Kansas City, Missouri
- He served as President of the United States from April 12, 1945 to January 20, 1953
- Prior to being sworn in as the President, he was the Vice-President of the United States to President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
- He took the oath of office as President at the passing of President Roosevelt from a cerebral hemorrhage.
- President Truman did not have a middle name. The "S" initial did not stand for any name. It was a compromise between the names of his two grandfathers - Anderson Shipp Truman and Solomon Young.
