S.T.E.A.M. stands for:
Science. Technology. Engineering. Art. Mathematics.
When: The STEAM Club will meet on Mondays from September 30 to April 28.
Dates 10/7/24 - 12/16/24, excluding 10/21, 11/4, 11/25, 12/23, 12/30 (no school)
& 1/6/25 - 4/28/25, excluding 1/20, 2/17, 3/17 (no school)
Where: ART room 125
Who: Eligible 4th grade students. To be eligible for the STEAM club; students must
maintain at least 90% attendance & display Responsible, Respectful, & Safe behavior at school & club meetings/events.
What: We will explore STEAM principles & ideas and there will be weekly activities &
challenges. The 2024 SPS Elem. Science Olympiad & 2025 STEAM Night are big events for the Club. We will complete STEAM activities like; Aluminum Boat Float, Paper Tower, Popsicle stick bridge, Mouse Trap Catapult & Club Tie Dye T-shirts!!!
Spots are limited
*Only for the first 20 students who return the permission form signed by their parent or guardian.
*Turn in your STEAM Club permission slips to Mr. B Room 114 or Emily Wand in the front office.

SPS Elementary Science Olympiad
Event Date: Saturday, October 26, 2024 7:30 am to 1 pm
McBride STEAM Club members will be participating in the SPS Elementary Science Olympiad
@Glass, Blunt & Kemper Hall on the MSU Campus.
Registration for the Competition will begin at 7:45 am & the Awards Ceremony will end at 1 pm
STEAM Club members will prepare for these events during their STEAM Club meetings at McBride Elementary; Egg Craft Drop, Paper Airplane Flying Challenge, & Water Filtration Device.
Students will be competing as a team in various events with 7 other STEAM Clubs/Elementary Schools at SPS Elementary Science Olympiad 2024 & will prepare during their STEAM Club meetings at McBride on 10/7, 10/14, 10/21.
Event Schedule:
Once I have received the detailed schedule for the day, Sat, Oct. 26, from MSU, I will share it with all club members competing in the events. (Parents & Guardians also)Reminders:

Students need to work in teams of 2-4 (no individual entries).

Coaches will accompany their teams through the rotations. If your school is split into multiple groups, please ensure you have two adults to accompany each group.

Students must come prepared with their egg craft drop, paper airplane, & water filtration devices already made.

I will provide snacks & water bottles during your scheduled break time.

A signed permission slip is required for any McBride STEAM Club member to attend & compete.

Transportation:
Springfield Public Schools will provide transportation for all McBride STEAM Club members to the Missouri State University campus on Saturday, October 26, 2024. Parents/Guardians have to use their own transportation to get to MSU campus.McBride STEAM Club Night

**STEAM club members will be required to help/assist with a station on STEAM Club night for 1 hour.
10 club members will help from 6:00 to 7:00 & the other 10 club members will help from 7:00 to 8:00.
