When operating at full capacity in a three-tier system, the Springfield Public Schools Transportation Department employs 112 bus drivers, 44 bus aides, 3 nurses, 6 supervisors, 5 transportation coordinators, 1 lead trainer, 1 mechanic foreman, 6 mechanics, 1 parts & fuel systems specialist, 1 fleet technology specialist, 4 routing & technology specialists, 1 accounting specialist, 1 payroll specialist, 1 trip coordinator, 1 director, and 1 assistant director. At full capacity we transport approximately 9,200 students to and from school each day. The fleet travels over two million miles per year.
