Eric Green: Learner Profile Trait Thinker

Eric Green, a 7th-grade student at Pipkin Middle School, is a HOW thinker, not an IF thinker. The IB Learner Profile aims to develop students who are thinkers. Students who are thinkers exercise initiative in applying thinking skills critically and creatively to recognize and approach complex problems, and then make reasoned, ethical decisions.

This past week, Eric did just that. Eric was studying a painting that his I&S teacher, JoDee Fink, was displaying on the board. He made the choice to contribute to a meaningful classroom discussion by pointing out artistic representations of many of the concepts the class had been studying. Ms. Fink stated, "Eric not only applied critical thinking skills but also modeled that thinking aloud for the class."

Eric Green embodies the Learner Profile trait of a Thinker and does not shy away from challenging questions, and once he knows the answer, he follows up by asking, "Why?"
