23 Future Educators commit to becoming SPS teachers

Sept. 2, 2025

On Aug. 7, SPS held a special signing ceremony for the fourth class of Future Educators. In the next three years, these Missouri State University students will learn to lead classrooms with excellence. When they graduate, they'll join Team SPS.

“The dedication to providing resources and opportunities that set program participants up for academic success is truly priceless,” said Future Educators Coordinator Terry Campbell.

The program has seen fantastic growth since its inception. The fourth cohort saw 23 participants, where the first cohort only had seven. This cohort is also the first to include students from all five of the traditional SPS high schools.

“We are thrilled with the growth we have experienced with our programming,” said Campbell. “Building connections throughout SPS and within MSU has been very intentional and rewarding.”

The Future Educators program is designed for MSU students interested in pursuing careers in education. The program teaches students about financial assistance, auxiliary programming, mentor support and job placement assistance upon successful completion of all requirements for certification and criteria of the program.

“Our goal is for participants to grow into exceptional educators in SPS,” said Future Educators Director Michelle Gavel. “The Future Educators program prepares them to enter their careers as confident, success-ready teachers.”
