This year, McBride Elementary School set a school record for the number of students it sent to regional and statewide contest with Math League.
In total, 13 McBride students qualified for regional competition, with 9 students qualifying for statewide competition in May.
"It's been a big year for us," said Marjie DeWilde, second grade teacher at McBride. "We had nearly 40 students try out for the Math Team. As a result, we ended up adding a third day of after-school Math Club meetings. Most kids attend two days a week, learning through competition, super speed solving and more. Not everyone loves math when they start, but they are all huge fans when they finish."

Students will compete at Math League State Championship May 4, participating in speed solving, word problems, tough problems or team solving.
