Elementary principals recognized for excellence
February 2022:
The Springfield region of the Missouri Association of Elementary School Principals has selected three SPS principals as representatives for the 2021-2022 MAESP Distinguished Principals Program. The program chooses principals who demonstrate leadership that ensures Missouri's children acquire a sound foundation for lifelong learning and achievement.
The principals will be recognized during MAESP’s annual Leadership Conference in March.
Dr. Crystal Magers is principal at Sherwood Elementary School and has been selected as Distinguished Principal. She leads her staff with high expectations and promotes professional learning communities with her teams. She leads with a huge heart for her community and works diligently to remove barriers for all of her students to have the opportunity to be successful. Dr. Magers is creative and innovative when it comes to problem solving and celebrating her staff. She embraces challenges with a positive outlook and a can-do attitude.
Mrs. Amanda Desa is principal at Williams Elementary School and has been selected as Exemplary New Principal. She is an advocate for students and families and she strives to ensure that all staff and students feel loved and valued. She is a hard worker who approaches challenges strategically. She has transformed Williams with high expectations for teaching and learning. She has creative ideas for positive behavior rewards and attendance. While her expectations are high, she brings levity and kindness to every situation.
Mr. Blaine Broderick is school community liaison at McGregor Elementary School and has been selected as Outstanding Assistant Principal. He knows the importance of building relationships with students and never stops looking for ways to positively connect with them. Mr. Broderick is invested in students’ academic and social-emotional growth. He gives up much of his time to work after school and on the weekends to provide activities for students and their families.
