SPS names new leaders
Springfield Public Schools is pleased to announce the following leadership appointments.
Christy Davis has been named Director of Early Childhood Education and Parents as Teachers, effective July 1. Christy began her career with SPS 18 years ago as a paraprofessional and a classroom teacher, later serving as an instructional coach and assistant director of early childhood. Christy is the current associate director of special services for early childhood special education. She obtained her undergraduate degree in elementary education from Drury University, holds a master’s degree in educational administration from Missouri State University, and is currently working on her doctorate at Southwest Baptist University.
Cara Stassel has been named the Director of Business Services effective immediately. Cara has served SPS for 11 years. During that time, she worked as an accounting and budget analyst before serving five years as the department’s assistant director. Prior to joining SPS, Cara worked as a fiscal and budgetary analyst with the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Jefferson City. Cara holds a Bachelor of Science in finance from Missouri State University.
Both leadership appointments are the result of retirements from the district.
