Outdoor experiences continue as Explore Session 1 comes to an end
As Explore Session 1 comes to an end, field trips across Springfield are ramping up.
Splash and Outdoor U students were visited by Superintendent John Jungmann on a sunny Tuesday.
At the Watershed Center of the Ozarks, second and third-graders fished alongside Dr. Jungmann. The activity is one piece of their outdoor experience curriculum. The immersive class encourages understanding of the water cycle as students hike trails, examine water specimens and fish.
Later, Dr. Jungmann joined Outdoor U middle schoolers, who spent the morning kayaking at Lake Springfield. The students have experienced biology in nature through fly-fishing, hiking, survival skill acquisition and more.
Explore Session 2 begins July 8. Students can register any time.
