SPS Wellness department wins award
Springfield Public Schools Wellness Department received the gold level Missouri Workplace Wellness Award from the Missouri Council for Activity & Nutrition. The distinguished award recognizes the district's efforts to support the health and wellness of its employees.
"We wanted to know how well our wellness program is doing, and we received the top honor for this type of award," said Jeff Rogers, wellness coordinator. "That means we have a lot of great things in place for our employees' wellness."
At SPS, wellness benefits for employees include: fitness center reimbursement, wellness coaching, nurse on call services, MD Live and a $50 financial incentive for completing a health risk assessment. This year, more than 2,000 employees completed a Health Risk Assessment.
"Our wellness approach is multi-disciplinary, and I'm proud of how we support our employees, including the ways we support community efforts for health living, like the American Breast Cancer Foundation, American Heart Association and more," said Rogers. "We do educational wellness, financial wellness, and provide services for emotional support as well. It's a total well-being approach in offering those resources to help employees achieve their goals."
