Spring means MAP testing time
Spring means it is time for annual MAP testing and other year-end assessments. At Springfield Public Schools, testing will be conducted between April 23 and May 10, depending on which school your child attends.
MAP stands for Missouri Assessment Program and it is a series of assessments for English language arts and mathematics for students in grades 3-8 and science for students in grade 5 and grade 8. High school students take end-of-course tests in English language arts, mathematics, science and social studies.
This test will give you and teachers an indicator of how your child is performing in these subject areas. Results of these tests will be available to you later this year.
In the weeks leading up to now, teachers have been helping students prepare for these tests. You can play an important role, too. Here are just a few ways you can help:
-
Make sure your child gets plenty of rest each night.
-
Charge their Chromebook before school so they are prepared for the test.
-
Feed them a healthy breakfast to fuel their memory and cognitive function.
-
Attendance is important. Ensure they arrive on time for school every day.
-
Encourage them to be positive and help build their confidence.
-
Remind them that it is important that they do their best.
Watch the video below with your child to help reinforce these important tips.
