Faces of SPS: Meet Missy Riley, director of early childhood education
Faces of SPS
Meet Missy Riley, director of early childhood and Parents as Teachers.
Q: “How does our community benefit from early childhood education centers?”
A: “There are benefits in both our early childhood centers and our classrooms that are housed within elementary buildings. At our centers, our teachers have an incredible opportunity to collaborate and see best practices of colleagues first-hand. Centers also offer us the opportunity to offer early-childhood specific programming and services to the entire building. At the elementary school “satellite sites,” students are able to be part of a more diverse learning community, often Pre-K through 5. In this setting, they are often able to attend with older siblings and get the opportunity to learn from older students.”
