Dear Cowden Families...

Dear Cowden Families,

Words cannot express how much I miss you and your child/children.  I am in shock, like everyone else, that our year ended the way it did last year and now starting this year with a reduced schedule.  We always have the best interest of the kids and families in mind, but it’s certainly hard on my heart!  With that said, I want you to know that I am taking the extra precautions very seriously and will do my very best to keep our students, staff and families safe during this challenging time.

We will be hosting a Meet the teacher event on Thursday, August 20th.  This event will literally take all day to pull off.  We will be hosting one upper grade and one primary grade class in the building at a time for a 30-minute time limit.  We must limit the number of visitors to the classrooms to 25 for each session and respectfully ask that only one parent attend with the student.  ALL visitors must wear a face mask and need to respect the 6 ft. social distance recommendation by the CDC. Primary age students (Wonder Years through 2nd grade) and families will enter from the south recess doors and proceed directly to the classroom.  Upper grade students and families will enter through the main entry doors and go directly to the assigned homeroom teacher’s classroom.  This year we will not allow students to wander around the school and go to the special classes (art, music, PE, technology, library, etc.).

Class lists are finalized and ready to be entered into eSchool.  Our entry construction project is almost completed and Miss Denise will be moving in to the new office area.  You WILL know your child’s teacher prior to arriving at school in order to avoid trying to view a posted list.

Keep in mind that school supplies will be provided to your child this year by the school district.  Your child will still need to carry a backpack to school each day.  A water bottle is highly recommended, please label clearly with your child’s name.  We do have the ability to fill water bottles at school.

Some teachers have changed grade levels and classrooms, so please understand that ahead of time to avoid going to the wrong classroom.  These assignments are during our reduced schedule time period and may or may not change SHOULD we return to a full schedule this school year.

I can’t wait to kick off this school year, I can’t wait to see each of you for this event and the first day of school.  I can’t wait until life returns to a somewhat normal status and I really can’t wait until I see the smiles of each and every student back at Cowden.  I think the world of each of you and know how difficult this school closure has been on you and your family.  Please reach out to me if you need me for any reason, I am here for you and your family.  I am blessed to be able to serve such a caring, close, loving community.
