Additional Athletic Programs added for 6th Graders

The SPS district athletics department is excited to add additional athletic programs for 6th graders, including those at Wilson’s Creek, starting with the 2022-23 school year. There will now be a sports offering for 6th grade students in each of these four middle school seasons in SPS.

  • August – October: Cross Country
  • October – December: Wrestling
  • December – March: Archery (existing program at WC)
  • March – May: Track and Field

What each of these programs will look like is still in the works, but we have been given approval to offer these opportunities for 6th grade students. Students will be required to have a physical by August 1, 2022 to participate in Cross Country. More information will follow as soon as specifics are solidified.

Following is the link for the annual athletic requirements which include citizenship card, physical evaluation form, and parent medical consent to treat form. Physicals are good for two years and should be completed by August 1, 2022.

The athletic participation fee is $50.00 and the activity card that provides students entrance into events is $5.00, while parent cost is $15.00 for all year. For students who qualify for free and reduced lunch, the athletic participation fee is waived; this fee covers a student for the entire year for as many sports as they choose to play.
