  • Virtual Wednesdays

Posted by Delaware Elementary on 8/25/2020

    Dear Families -

We've had a GREAT first two days at school in our beautiful new building!  Our Monday/Tuesday crew has been fantastic about learning our new procedures and where to find everything!  We can't wait to reconnect with our Thursday/Friday crew at the end of this week!

Tomorrow is Virtual Wednesday - teachers will be online with their students - using Zoom - beginning at 8:30 am.  Teachers have established which 4.5 hours of the day they'll be teaching lessons virtually with the students, and these times are posted in Canvas under announcements.

Please ensure your child logs onto their Canvas by 8:30 am so they may hear special morning announcements & instructions.  Your teacher is the BEST source of information for links and schedules, so please send them a message if something is not going quite right.

Our instructional technologist, Miss Cabrales, will be available to parents via email (chelseycabrales@spsmail.org) and by phone at 417-523-3700.  She can provide some technical assistance, but for questions about specific links or schedules, please contact your child's teacher through the Canvas Inbox on your child's Canvas account.

We know this will be a bit bumpy the first week, but we'll work together to work out the kinks.  Thank you for your patience & flexibility.  Parents - YOU are appreciated!

Meantime - enjoy this music video from one of my all-time favorite movies. Yes, I know you'll probably chuckle when you see it.  That's okay! This perfectly sums up how our teachers are feeling about tomorrow!  Enjoy!  :-)

  • Important Message from Delaware School

Posted by Delaware Elementary on 8/19/2020

    August 19, 2020

    Dear Delaware Parents and Guardians:

This email provides important updates for the 2020-2021 school year. Whether your child is learning virtually or in-person at school, this information applies to you.

    • Distribution of Technology Support: Students concluded the 2019-2020 school year by retaining their district-issued technology device (Chromebooks). These will be used for the 2020-2021 school year, beginning August 24. However, for students who do not currently have a functional district-issued device, or for other technology support needs (hotspots, Garmins, etc.), the following distribution process will be followed.

      • Students may pick up needed technology Thursday, August 20, 1:00-6:00 pm or Friday, August 21, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, OR at Meet Your Teacher (designated times in previous email).

    • Back-to-School Meetings/Events: For students learning virtually, parents will receive meet-the-teacher opportunities directly from your online teacher. The following back-to-school opportunities are offered to help welcome students and families for in-person learning. Meet Your Teacher will be held on Friday, August 21 at the following times:

    1:30 pm – 2:00 pm: Buff (kdg), Phillips (1st) , McCoy (2nd), Givens (2nd/3rd), Duckworth (4th), and Mott (5th)

2:15 – 2:45 pm: KJohnson (CSS/Autism), Bradrick (3rd), Carpenter (Functional Skills), Bryan (Functional Skills), Hall (CSS/Autism)

    3:00 – 3:30 pm:  Rush (Functional Skills), Rogers (CSS/Autism), Neff (5th)

More information will be headed your way tomorrow about which doors to use to enter each wing of the building, as we attempt to physically distance our families during MYT.

    • School Supplies: SPS will provide school supplies for all students enrolled in pre-K through Grade 5. The vendor is in the process of delivering supplies to SPS and individual school sites. Students enrolled in the Virtual Learning Option will need to pick up these supplies. More information on distribution to families will be provided soon.

    • Transportation: Students eligible for bus transportation received a postcard in the mail this week to confirm the pick-up and drop-off time and location.

We look forward to welcoming you back to SPS for the 2020-2021 school year.

As a reminder, full details about the SPS re-entry plan are available at www.sps.org/reentry. For other back-to-school information and resources, visit www.sps.org/backtoschool.

For other questions, please contact our school office at 523-3700.

    Sincerely,

    Stephanie Young, Principal
