Hillcrest JROTC finds success at national leadership competition

 

Hillcrest High School’s Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) team placed 18th overall in the nation at the JROTC Leadership & Academic Bowl National Championship. 

Cadets Ethan Burt, George Chandler, Daylin Houston and Michael McCall make up the Hillcrest Hornet JROTC team which traveled to Washington, D.C., on June 13 and placed 18th out of 1,911 teams since the competition’s beginning in November. The competition was an all-service national competition that challenges cadets in leadership, academics and teamwork through a multi-phase competition that brings together the top 3% of JROTC programs nationwide.

All four of Hillcrest’s cadets were also awarded with the Douglas MacArthur and George C. Marshall Leadership Awards, which are limited to 400 cadets annually among all 488,000 cadets nationwide.
